Class Information

The first course on guitar manufacturing and testing was offered in Spring 2006. We started with a very spartan work space in the basement of the College of Technology lab building. The 12 students in the class had the job of unpacking some of the tools, setting up most of the power tools, including a Shopbot CNC router and organizing the work area before we could get started.

This first class of students is making 13 nominally identical M1 Classical Guitars.  The following pictures show the process of setting up the lab space, making the first set of building fixtures and making prototype parts.
